COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia chapter of WoodmenLife® donated $500 to Senior Resources for the agency’s ongoing flood relief efforts. The funds will be used to provide non-perishable food items to local residents on the Meals on Wheels waiting list who are struggling to recover from South Carolina’s historic floods.

“So far, our volunteers have delivered more than 60 boxes of food to 31 senior citizens in Richland County, and we are working to deliver more this month,” said Senior Resources Executive Director Pam Dukes. “This donation from WoodmenLife will allow us to purchase foods that are easy for seniors to open and safe for them to eat.”

The donation is part of WoodmenLife’s National Community Focus: Fighting Hunger. WoodmenLife’s more than 900 chapters across the country have joined together as a positive force to fight hunger in their communities.

“WoodmenLife chapters across the country have sent us monetary donations in the wake of the flood to help us support local flood-relief efforts,” said WoodmenLife Regional Director Donald Molineu. “We are proud to partner with Senior Resources to make sure our elderly neighbors are not forgotten.”

Local WoodmenLife employees and volunteers also serve as regular delivery drivers for Senior Resources’ Meals on Wheels program.

WoodmenLife was founded in 1890 as a not for profit. The agency gives back to more than 700,000 member customers, who share a commitment to family, community and country, and the communities in which they live.
