WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies will participate in the fifth annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fund raiser that Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands will conduct between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 at the State House.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies are participating in the event in order to show support for sexual assault and sexual abuse victims. Proceeds from the event will help victims recover from trauma caused by sexual assaults and sexual abuse. The event also helps raise awareness about what citizens can do to limit sexual assaults and sexual abuse.

South Carolina State Constable Craig Bowers is coordinating the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, Metts said. Citizens who have questions about the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the event or who would like to participate with the Sheriff’s Department in the event can contact Bowers at (803) 767-7267.

The participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event reflects the agency’s mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in LexingtonCounty, Metts said.
