Toast the Coast at Riverbanks ZOOfari

Flock to the Zoo for a Southern Soiree on Friday, September 25

[Columbia, SC] – Riverbanks Zoo and Garden’s premier fundraiser, Riverbanks ZOOfari, will take place on Friday, September 25 at 7:00pm.

The all-inclusive evening, hosted by Riverbanks Society, invites guests to indulge in a savory safari featuring popular plates and flavorful fixin’s inspired by the Low Country of South Carolina. Creative concoctions will complement the featured fare.

Guests, this year, will have an opportunity to take a peek behind-the-scenes of Riverbanks’ giraffe barn, meet members of the herd up-close and learn how the Zoo cares for these loveable longnecks. In addition, scheduled animal feedings, presentations and encounters will take place at various exhibits throughout the evening.

A number of unique silent and live auction items will once again be up for bid. Highlights of the live auction include:

Sea Lion Soiree – Be one of the first to celebrate the opening of Riverbanks’ all-new Sea Lion Landing! Eight guests will enjoy a rare opportunity to experience first-hand what it takes to care for and train these magnificent marine mammals. Top off the evening enjoying a coastal-inspired dinner and drinks while watching the animals in action.

Farm to Table at Grizzly Ridge – The exclusive evening for six will give guests an all access pass behind-the-scenes of the Zoo’s new grizzly bear habitat. Meet Butch and Sundance up-close and learn what it takes to care for these beloved bear brothers. Guests will also enjoy a rustic farm-to-table dinner while dining nose-to-nose with the furry fellows at Grizzly Ridge.

Brew at the Zoo Just for You – Enjoy long necks with Riverbanks’ favorite long necks at your private Brew at the Zoo. During the progressive beer tasting for twelve, guests will encounter several of Riverbanks’ most popular residents before a behind-the-scenes experience with the Zoo’s giraffe herd and dinner at Giraffe Overlook.

A limited number of tickets will be sold. Advance tickets are $55 for Riverbanks members and $65 for the general public. Any remaining tickets will be $75 on the day of the event. Tickets may be purchased online or at any Zoo and Garden ticket window. All proceeds benefit ongoing wildlife conservation and education efforts at Riverbanks.
