Sticking with It

Written by Dr. Jed N. Snyder, President, Jesus Every Day Ministries

As we begin the New Year, many of us make “resolutions” or at least we have desires to make things better in the days ahead of us. Here is a Bible verse that can be helpful.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58

God will always give abundant good gifts to His children. One of His most precious gifts is providing us with work that useful.  Any work that please Him is “the work of the Lord.”

When we get to heaven and see what our service in the Lord accomplished we will likely be surprised.  That thing that you thought to be a small thing; that thing that was behind the scenes; unnoticed by anyone excepting God and his angels; that thing that was tedious; boring or unpleasant; these are the things that may surprise us in heaven.  These things are not “in vain”.

We may wish that we could see quicker results.  We may wish that there was something more tangible to show for our effort.  We may even wish that someone would say “thanks” for what we have done.  We can rejoice in the promise of this verse.  “Our work in the Lord is not in vain.”

Half-hearted service is really a sad way to live.  Sell out completely to God.  He will give you plenty to do.  There is always worthwhile work for those who desire to work in the Lord.  We never have lack of opportunity.

Use your full brain.  Work hard.  Be passionate.  Let no one doubt that you are fully committed, completely in love with Jesus and ready to live and even die for him.  Never give up.  Never give up.  Never! Never! Never!
