St. Pat’s in Five Points Kicks Off with Dye and Dancing

On Friday, March 7, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, the Five Points community will welcome the green and Gaelic season with a free event for people of all ages at the fountain (intersection of Harden and Greene Streets).

Annually, hundreds of little leprechauns and their much taller chaperones participate in the Kick-Off to St. Pat’s, highlighted by:

  • Children helping in the tradition of dyeing the fountain green
  • Entertainment from the nationally award winning Rince N’ah Eireann Irish step dancers
  • Bagpipers in traditional Irish garb
  • Musical stylings of DJ Scott Padgett

2/26/14: Battle for St. Pat’s

Eight of the Midlands gnarliest and blarniest local bands have been chosen, but only one will make it to the big stage at St. Pat’s in Five Points.  Voting is now open on the St Pat’s website for fans to pick their favorite.  This year’s contenders are Bless Yer Heart, fk mt., Karmessiah, Post-Timey String Band, The Force, The Sea Wolf Mutiny, Two Fell In A Foxhole, Youth Model.  Voting will end midnight on Thursday, March 6 and the winners will be announced at the Official Kick-Off on Friday, March 7.

3/15/14: St. Pat’s in Five Points

The Five Points village in Columbia, SC, is home to one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the southeast. Annually, St. Pat’s in Five Points welcomes over 40,000 people living the luck of the Irish and celebrating all things Gaelic.  Continually growing and improving, the 2014 festival will feature the Get To The Green 10K / 5K / Family Fun 1-Miler, annual parade, kid-approved Pot O’ Gold Playland, swinging shag exhibition and DJ throwdown, as well as five stages hosting over 15 live musical acts throughout the day.
