COLUMBIA, S.C. – South State Bank has earned top honors in South Carolina, being named to both the 2018 Best Places to Work and Forbes Best-in-State Banks lists.

“These awards are especially meaningful to us because our employees and our customers rank us among the best in South Carolina,” said John Windley, president and CEO of South State Bank. “Our talented employees are the reason our customers choose to bank with us. They work hard every day to make our customers feel welcomed and valued, serving as trusted advisors to deliver financial services that make customers’ lives better.”

For the second consecutive year, South State earned the “Best Places to Work” title, one of only 26 large employers in the state to be given the honor by SC Biz News, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and Best Companies Group. Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the best places to work in South Carolina. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined which companies made the list.

South State was named to Forbes’ inaugural “Best-in-State Banks” list, which was developed by Forbes and partner Statista. More than 25,000 customers in the U.S. were surveyed for their opinions on current and former banking relationships. Respondents ranked banks on overall recommendation and satisfaction, as well as five subdimensions: trust, terms and conditions, branch services, digital services and financial advice. In total, only 124 banks nationwide made the resulting list.
