Skin Care Changes With The Season

Maintaining healthy skin is an ongoing daily process. If necessary, skin routines should be adjusted with the changing seasons. In the autumn months, skin may lose hydration and moisture due to the arrival of dryer, cooler air. The dryer, cooler air arrives quickly and this change may shock the normal skin systems. The skin will be trying to adjust to the new environment brought on by the weather. Fluctuations in the skin system are also created by factors such as taking hotter showers in the cooler months and using central heating in the home. All of these factors that begin with the weather is now making skin work harder to keep enough hydration. Therefore, if the skin routine is not changed to maintain its health, it can lead to cracks in the skin, loss of hydration, inflammation and irritation.

A few simple changes can help maintain a healthy skin care balance and include taking shorter showers (avoid hot water), using a thicker moisturizer (apply it to damp skin), and using products that are aimed to add hydration. A visit to an esthetician may also add value and assistance to keep skin looking great.

I have a seasonal facial that I offer at TAG Esthetics LLC. Those with busy schedules, which is most of us especially now that the holiday season is here, have the weather, our skin and our lifestyle as factors to how our skin behaves. If care is not taken to maintain healthy skin, it may lead to unfavorable results. This season I suggest products and facials that help to maintain moisture.

With the season change, I offer the Pumpkin Latte Facial that two professional models experienced. Savannah Johnson, 18, is a professional model signed with Z-1 Models and Talent, located in Chester, South Carolina. Savannah’s skin already has an even complexion so during her appointment, I simply wanted to help keep her skin soft with the changing season. The Pumpkin Latte Facial that Savannah experienced is my signature facial with a luxurious pumpkin mask used during the appointment. Pumpkin is in season, it smells amazing and it also contains wonderful key nutrients that can benefit the skin when used properly. Pumpkin also contains Vitamin C which is an anti-oxidant that boosts collagen production and helps soften and soothe the skin.

I also serviced Jasmine Foster, 23, who is a professional model signed with Prime & Prim Studio of the Arts, located in Columbia, South Carolina. Jasmine received the Pumpkin Latte Facial and an exfoliating scrub was added within the facial. Jazz’s skin is vibrant and I wanted to help keep her skin luminous. So by adding the exfoliating scrub to the facial, we are able to exfoliate away any dead skin lying on the surface to bring out an even more radiant look and feel. It helps that pumpkin is packed with alpha hydroxy acids which increases cell turnover to brighten and smooth the skin.

Changing your skin care routine with the season doesn’t have to be stressful. Following some simple guidelines and suggestions can help maintain a healthy beautiful complexion.
