Sixteen to Participate in Miss SC Cornbread Festival Pageant
Sixteen contestants will participate in the 2014 Miss SC Cornbread Festival Pageant on Saturday, March 1. Girls and ladies from age three to 50+ will compete for titles including Wee Miss, Little Miss, Junior Miss, Teen Miss, Miss and Golden Ms. SC Cornbread.
In its second year, the Miss South Carolina Cornbread Festival pageant is the official kickoff to the SC Cornbread Festival. The festival is organized by the North Columbia Business Association (NCBA), in partnership with the City of Columbia , Richland County and Pepsi-Cola. Last year’s festival brought nearly 10,000 to the North Columbia community.
NCBA executive director, Sabrina Odom says, “This pageant is very important to our community, and especially our young girls. This is an esteem-building mission, aimed at attracting young girls who normally would not participate in pageants. We are also focusing heavily on natural beauty, encouraging our girls to love themselves for who they are.”
In addition to pageant titles, contestants can also win other honorable mentions like Miss Social Media, which is determined by the number of ‘likes’ a contestant receives on the pageant’s Facebook page.
