Senior Resources, Inc. 8th Annual Every Senior Counts Fundraiser
Kim Wilkerson, SC President of Bank of America, Keynote Speaker
COLUMBIA, SC. Senior Resources, Inc. will host its 8th annual Every Senior Counts luncheon on Thursday, November 6, 2014. This year’s theme is “I am not alone,” a reminder to seniors and their families that Senior Resources provides the programs and services they need to maintain healthy, independent lives.
The luncheon will feature a video showcasing the clients and programs of Senior Resources, including Meals on Wheels, wellness centers and senior volunteer programs. Several clients will also be present to share their stories about how Senior Resources has made a difference in their lives. This year’s luncheon will also feature keynote speaker Kim Wilkerson, SC President of Bank of America.
Through the generous support of two event sponsors — Blue Cross and Blue Shield South Carolina, and The State Media Company — there is no cost to guests who attend the Every Senior Counts fundraiser.
The luncheon will be held at Seawell’s (1125 Rosewood Drive, Columbia, SC) and doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The luncheon will begin promptly at 12:00, and conclude at 1 p.m. Guests are asked to reserve their seat by October 31, 2014 at www.tinyurl/ESC-RSVP.
“While this event is one of our major annual fundraisers, the Every Senior Counts luncheon is about so much more than just raising money,” said Senior Resources Executive Director Pam Dukes. “This luncheon is a chance for our agency to raise awareness in our community about the needs of our senior population. Our guests will get an up-close view of our services and meet some of the clients we serve.”
Donations will be accepted at the conclusion of the luncheon. All proceeds from this fundraiser will support our Senior Companions, Meals On Wheels, Wellness Centers/Congregate Dining, Foster Grandparents, and the Retired & Senior Volunteer (RSVP) programs.
About Senior Resources, Inc.
Senior Resources is a non-profit organization that coordinates services, provides resources and encourages the personal choices that allow Columbia’s senior citizens to remain independent. All activities, services and programs of the agency are geared toward promoting independent living, with the goal of helping seniors remain in their homes as long as possible through the support of staff and volunteers, and delaying or preventing institutionalization.
Since 1967, Senior Resources has served Columbia’s frail and elderly residents in three areas:
1) In-home services, including Meals on Wheels, home care, respite care, senior companion services, and case management;
2) Community-based services, including congregate meals, wellness centers, transportation, and physical fitness;
3) Volunteer services, including the Senior Companion program, Foster Grandparent program, and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
With local, state and federal government funding, as well as contributions from United Way, personal donations and fundraising activities, Senior Resources offers a variety of programs so that our clients can select the assistance they need to maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle.
