IRMO – Lexington-Richland School District Five has named a new director of personnel for the district.
Dr. Reggie Wicker, a seasoned educator and administrator, will replace Dr. Tamara Turner who was named the Chief of Human Resources earlier this year. Prior to accepting a position in School District Five, Wicker served as coordinator of special projects in the human resources department in Richland School District One. Wicker was approved for his new post during a school board meeting on December 14.
“I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to join a respected and reputable organization such as School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties,” Wicker said. “As a student teacher at Chapin Elementary back in the early 2000’s, I quickly knew this was a place I wanted to be because of the evident investment in students and staff. I have always admired the work of the District Five team. It is my desire to learn and grow personally and professionally from this experience, while being a continued support for students and staff.”
Wicker received his bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Newberry College and began his career as a fourth-grade teacher at Newberry Elementary. Wicker later served as a parenting coordinator, a principal at Newberry County Elementary and director of elementary education in Union County. He received his doctorate in educational administration and leadership from Walden University in 2020.
“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Wicker back to School District Five,” said School District Five Superintendent Dr. Christina Melton. “He brings a wealth of professional experience and knowledge that will ensure we continue to help our teachers and students learn and grow to their fullest potential. Congratulations, Dr. Wicker.”
