IRMO – Lexington-Richland School District Five issued Golden Passes to more than 150 residents during a two-day sign-up August 7 – August 8.
The permanent photo identification card for residents that are 60 years and older provides free admission into most athletic and cultural arts events in School District Five, excluding playoff games. District officials say the passes help encourage older community members to be involved and active in district-sponsored events and activities.
“Our senior community is an integral part to the success of School District Five, as many serve as volunteers in the district,” Superintendent Dr. Christina Melton said. “The Golden Pass program brings the community together in support of our students and schools. We look forward to seeing all of those who received a Golden Pass at our school events and activities this year!”
School District Five has offered its Golden Pass program for more than two decades. Golden Passes are lifetime passes and do not need to be renewed. School District Five has partnered with Greenville County Schools for its reciprocal program. For specified away athletic events, School District Five Golden Pass recipients will be given free admission.
For Carol Miller, the pass gives her the opportunity to support her family. “My granddaughter is a volleyball player at Dutch Fork High School, and I look forward to watching her play and cheering on the Silver Foxes,” said Miller.
Eligible residents who were not able to attend the August sign-up event may pick up a temporary pass for the 2018-2019 school year by visiting the District Office at 1020 Dutch Fork Road in Irmo.
