SC Alliance of Black School Educators 21st Century Skills Conference

The South Carolina Alliance of Black School Educators will hold its annual conference, “The 21st Century Skills Conference”, January 15-17, 2016.  The event will be held at Embassy Suites, Kingston Plantation, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Keynote speakers are Roland Martin of TV One; Manny Scott, an original Freedom Writer; Suzanne Koty, South Carolina’s Teacher of the Year and Reverend Terry Alexander.  The Honorable Molly Spearman will bring greetings from the Department of Education.

In addition to honoring all district teachers of the year, SCABSE will recognize the inaugural SCABSE Honors members; Cynthia Johnson, Principal of Calhoun County High School, Herbert Johnson, Choral Director at Lakewood High School; Kelvin Wymbs, Director of Secondary Education at Florence School District One; Lee York, Lead Guidance Counselor, Kelly Middle School, Richland School District Two.

There are 42 concurrent sessions planned that will address the following strands:  Successful Education for Children of Poverty; STEM to STEAM; SLOs;  The Roles of the Faith Community and School Boards; Support for Support Personnel; Corporate Partnerships; Early Childhood Development and Leadership Development.

Students in grades five through twelve are invited to be a participant in the Youth Conference.  Students will have the opportunity to attend three sessions:  Academic Enrichment:  Success Is Free, What’s Right for You and Mind, Body and Soul.  Manny Scott will offer words of encourage to all students.
