COLUMBIA, S.C. — Two Richland Two basketball players have been selected for the Upward Stars Southeast Elite Travel Basketball Team. Richland Northeast High School sophomore Alex Caldwell and Ridge View High School freshman Malcolm Wilson will play on the Adidas-sponsored team in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).  This is Caldwell’s second year with the organization and Wilson’s first. Caldwell and Wilson will play on the 16u (16 and under) and 15u (15 and under) teams, respectively.

Upward Stars is one of 48 programs in the country and the only one in South Carolina that will participate on the Adidas Gauntlet Gold Division which will be played in Dallas, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia. The finale takes place at the Upward Star Center in Spartanburg.  Upward Stars is known for its development of the total player with a focus on 360 Progression TM.  Players compete in higher level tournaments and showcase events from April-July, as well as perform community service. Additionally, Upward Stars players receive invitations to special development and training camps, including Adidas Uprising and Adidas Nations.

Richland Two students who were recently on the team are Spring Valley High School graduate, McDonald’s All-American and University of South Carolina point guard P.J. Dozier; and Spring Valley senior Jordan Bruner, who is headed to Yale this summer.
