Richland County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant Receives Prestigious Award

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is proud to announce that on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the 2nd Annual Richland County Distinguished Women’s Awards Luncheon, held by Councilwoman Joyce Dickerson and Councilwoman Julie-Ann Dixon, Richland County Sheriff’s Department Victims Assistance Unit Lieutenant Heidi Jackson was presented with the Distinguished Community Leadership Award for Advocacy and Justice!!
Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Heidi is an incredibly experienced and dedicated law enforcement officer with an exceptional background and work history. Sheriff Lott stated that over Heidi’s ten years with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, he has seen her serve this community both on duty as a deputy and during her off duty time as a volunteer for several agencies that serve victims of crime in this community; taking service and dedication to the highest level. Heidi has been an instrumental part in putting the Sheriff’s Department Sex Trafficking Program together; coordinating with outside agencies and private churches to provide services to help treat and heal, as well as financial assistance to children and adults that have been victims of sex trafficking. In addition, Heidi has also led the way in coordinating mental health treatment for citizens of Richland County that have contacted the Sheriff’s Department and are in obvious need of mental health services, to include a program that works with area mental health institutions, Probate Court and private care givers to help those individuals in need. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that her commitment and passion doesn’t stop there as she continues giving numerous presentations on women’s self defense and sex trafficking on her own time; all the while managing to raise a wonderful family and keep the upmost positive attitude.
Sheriff Leon Lott commends Lt. Heidi Jackson for her service to the department and the community, stating that she is most deserving of this prestigious award. The Sheriff added that Heidi’s immense service and commitment to Richland County is a perfect example of the passion that the Richland County Sheriff’s Department applies to our community oriented policing strategy which is helping to build unity in the community and improve the quality of life for ALL citizens.
