Richland County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Receives Certificate of Appreciation from Governor Haley

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott and WIS News Anchor Dawndy Mercer-Plank surprised Lieutenant William Hoover of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 Unit with a Certificate of Appreciation from South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
The Sheriff stated that Governor Haley commended Lieutenant Hoover for his years of service, as well as his outstanding dedication in ensuring the adequate care, training, and equipment for K-9’s as well as Sheriff’s K-9 deputies. Lieutenant Hoover expressed that he could not do it alone and that a large portion of credit should go towards his colleagues in the K-9 Unit.
The Sheriff stated that Lieutenant Hoover’s family and colleagues were in attendance to witness and congratulate him for his excellence.
Lieutenant Hoover has served in the K-9 Unit for the past 15 years and has been with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department for a total of 18 years. Sheriff Leon Lott expresses his pride in officers such as Lieutenant Hoover.
