Principal Receives Community Partnership Award
IRMO – Irmo Middle School Principal Cassy Paschal has been awarded the University of South Carolina (UofSC) College of Education Community Partner award.
“I’m extremely honored to receive the Community Partner Award from the UofSC College of Education,” said Paschal. “Working with my staff and future school administrators is such a privilege. Being able to be a part of their professional journey is exciting as I get to watch them blossom into child advocates and educational rock stars. I am thankful for the recognition and opportunity to work with the UofSC College of Education.”
The award recognizes an individual that best characterizes the college’s commitment to community building and raising the bar for educators in the Midlands. Paschal was chosen by a panel as one of three College of Community Partners during the College of Education’s annual homecoming celebration on November 1.
Paschal was nominated by a College of Education faculty member who wrote in a nomination letter, “Cassy, as Principal of Irmo Middle School, exemplifies the passion and commitment that Educational Leadership and Policies teaches its students. Cassy is an advocate for all students. In her school, she has created an atmosphere where students are welcome in the principal’s office.”
The nominator also mentioned that Paschal is always open to having an administrative intern shadow her for the day. She also volunteers her time to be a guest speaker to administrative interns and share her wisdom with future administrative leaders.
“We hope to continue this new tradition and honor Community Partners annually at our Homecoming event,” said Dr. Cindy Van Buren, assistant dean of the College of Education. “We congratulate Ms. Paschal on her strength as a leader and a valued member of our College of Education extended family. She is a true partner in every sense of the word.”
