Peace in Towns
By Dr. Jed N. Snyder, President, Jesus Every Day Ministries, Inc
We regularly hear of murders and other violent crimes in many towns and cities around the world. It is shocking when in a little, usually peaceful town, we hear of murders, rapes and similar heinous crimes. Some ask, “what happened to the peace?” Please read this Old Testament instruction to the prophet, Jeremiah.
And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace. Jeremiah 29:7
How do people find peace inwardly so they can live in peace with those around them?
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, for in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength. Isaiah 26:3-4
A personal relationship with God is the only way to true peace. When this peace is achieved because we have repented of our sins, then peace in towns and cities can more frequently achieved and maintained. Peace in communities comes by individuals dealing with the reasons why they are not at peace. Sins, including too much anger, must be repented of
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16
When we hear of angry people, may we remind ourselves to pray for these people. God is the only One who is able to bring peace into the hearts and lives of people. If we allow God’s grace to flow into our lives, He will bring peace. Without this there will be strive.
Happy peace-seeking through God.
