Pastor Eric Davis and Lady Vanessa Davis of Word of God Church & Ministries
Pastor Eric Warren Davis is a native of Columbia, South Carolina and a 1986 graduate of Lower Richland High School in Columbia. He is also a 1991 graduate of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg where he obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. He completed certification in Executive Leadership (CEL Cornell University – 2008). Pastor Davis is married to the love of his life, Vanessa L. Davis, and to the union of their marriage, God has blessed them with three sons – Ezra Warren, Elias Warren, and Emmanuel Warren.
In 1996, Pastor Davis accepted the call to ministry and re-located once again to Columbia, South Carolina, leaving a successful professional career in order to pursue ministry – his primary passion. Upon returning to Columbia, South Carolina, he became the Associate Minister of Little Zion Baptist Church in Winnsboro. There, he worked with the prison ministry, youth ministry, and single’s ministry. He later served as the church’s minister of education.
Pastor Davis formed an independent outreach ministry working with the Oliver Gospel Mission and the homeless of Columbia. The Night Watchmen street ministry was later formed. This ministry involved nighttime ministry in the inner city of Columbia and reached persons involved in gangs, drug dealing, and drug addiction, just to name a few. An outreach ministry entitled, Alternative, was later developed to reach troubled youth through alternative mentoring programs for African-American males throughout the city. These outreach ministry programs were included in City Year, Richland School District One, Five Points Schools, C. R. Neal Learning Center, and others.
He has been the Senior Pastor of Word of God Church & Ministries, formerly Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, since November 2000. Word of God Church & Ministries is currently located on 119 Diamond Lane, in Columbia.
Pastor Davis believes in the authority of God’s Word – that the Body of Christ is not limited to worldly constraints or popular opinion. We are called to establish God’s kingdom on the earth, “not by might nor by power, but by my spirit saith the Lord.” We can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us!
Lady Vanessa Davis is a submitted and virtuous woman of God who has a profound passion for the Lord. Simply put, she is just a servant of the Lord who is sold out for Jesus Christ. She is a native of Sumter, South Carolina and a graduate of Benedict College.
She is the founder of Mother’s Day, Incorporated. The vision for Mother’s Day, Inc. was given to her on March 23, 2002 while experiencing the challenges of being a first-time mother. After listening to concerns from other mothers who were experiencing the same, she was inspired to begin Mother’s Day, Inc. This vision has expanded and Mother’s Day, Inc. continues to be a strong support system for mothers at Word of God Church & Ministries and the community. At the beginning of 2012, the Lord led Lady Davis to change the name of Mother’s Day, Inc. to M.O.M. which stands for Mothers on a Mission. The name was changed due to the urgent needs of Mothers in the church and community and the increased missions required to minister to those needs.
She is also developer and host of Word of God Church & Ministries women’s conference, The Submitted Woman.
Lady Davis was appointed to lead our Women’s Ministry, T.I.T.U.S (Transforming Issues Through United Sisterhood) because of her love and concern for the healing, growth, and empowerment of women. Coupled with this vision is S.I.S.T.E.R.S. (Sisters In Spiritual Transition Empowered for Righteousness Sake), which was the theme for the first T.I.T.U.S. Women’s Conference. This leg of the ministry will focus on teaching women the importance of becoming and remaining their“sister’s keeper”.
Among her many accomplishments, Lady Davis believes her true calling and, primary purpose, is to be a support to her husband in ministry and to raise her children by living a Godly life before them.
On December 31, 2012, the first service was held at the new location located at 119 Diamond Lane on the northside of Columbia, S.C, This long anticipated move and service marked the 12th year of ministry for Pastor Davis and the congregation. The Inaugral Worship Service and ribbon cutting of the new campus was held on January 10, 2013.
