Mrs. Mary Furgess Cooper Adopt-A-Room Ceremony

West Columbia, SC – The Board of Directors of the Brookland-Lakeview-Empowerment Center (BLEC) honored Mrs. Mary Furgess Cooper, a retired Teacher from the former Lakeview/Northside School, in an Adopt-A-Room Ceremony recently in the Cafeteria of the Brookland-Lakeview Empowerment Center, located at 1218 Batchelor Street, West Columbia, South Carolina.

The Brookland-Lakeview Empowerment Center is a 501(c)(3) affiliate of the Brookland Baptist Church that was established as a Community Resource Center to develop and house a number of programs to transform and enrich lives through social and human services and entrepreneurial empowerment.

The mission of the Brookland-Lakeview Empowerment Center is to establish an enrichment complex for families and children by which the power of faith is realized, collective works enhanced and responsibility demonstrated; to mobilize the support of various institutions of health, education and economics and to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the surrounding areas and the Lakeview Community
