“Frankly, Mike came here [to South Carolina] and he’s all in. He’s done everything he can to make the state better and the community better as if he’s been here his entire life,” says long-time friend Judy Davis, executive vice president and chief legal officer at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. “And frankly, he does it because he loves living here. And he just simply makes it better for all of us.”
The South Carolina Chamber’s Business Leader of the Year is chosen based on leadership in South Carolina and the embodiment of personal success. Other criteria include a business record based on ethical conduct and corporate responsibility, public service, contributions to the preservation of South Carolina’s government and commitment to creating a positive business climate to improve the state’s economy.
The Chamber’s Annual Summit, Paving the Way to the Future, will bring together more than 250 of the state’s most powerful business leaders to discuss future goals to increase South Carolina’s global competitiveness.
