Marriage’s Definition: Cultural or Creational?
Written by Dr. Jed N. Snyder, President, Jesus Every Day Ministries, Inc.
Our country unfortunately awaits a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States which they never should have even entertained. There is no way that human courts can change definitions that God established. Read what the Bible says about the earliest days.
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:26-27
Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:23-24
To speak the obvious may seem offensive to some but it is necessary. When man needed a partner God did not make another man, He made a woman. Also, He did not make two women for one man nor did He create two men for one woman. He did not create polygamy nor polyandry, not homosexuality or lesbianism. What he did create was a monogamous male-female unit which He labeled as marriage.
One of the most dangerous things that humans can do is to defy God. If our Supreme Court redefines marriage, they are following futility or worse. We should get into agreement with God rather than taking an opposing position. Who are we to tell God He is wrong.
Happy agreeing with God in this as in other aspects of our lives.
