What Kind of King?
By Dr. Jed Snyder
Today in the USA we don’t think much about kings. However for those who seek to be Christians, the kingship of Jesus Christ cannot be ignored. He was presented as King. “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Luke 19:38
Jesus came as the humble King on a young donkey, not on a white stallion. He set an example for us. Even though He is the King, he came to serve. If our King serves us, we certainly can humbly serve one another. …whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:43-45
We are nearing Easter, the time when Christians remember and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is time to humble ourselves as Jesus did.
One day, He will return, but this time it will be as a conquering King. How we have received Him as the humble King will determine how He treats us as the conquering King. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. Revelation 19:15
Easter is the completion of Christmas. Jesus was born humbly, He lived humbly and offered He offered Himself as a humble King. As we think of people around us, hopefully we will be humble like Jesus. As He served we can strive to serve. Others need Jesus and we can show Him to them.
Happy humbly serving.
