COLUMBIA, S.C. — Blythewood High School Principal Keith Price was named the 2014 South Carolina Association of School Librarians (SCASL) Administrator of the Year for making a sustained, unique contribution toward furthering the role of the library media center.

Crystal Smith and Amy Whitfield, library media specialists at BHS, nominated Price for the award, which he received at the SCASL Conference held Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Price volunteers with Blythewood Reads, a summer reading program at BHS. As a member of the committee that plans the program, he recommends and reviews books, leads book discussions during the annual reading celebration and helps evaluate the program’s effectiveness.

In their nomination for Price, Smith and Whitfield praised Price for clearly understanding “the impact effective library media programs and media specialist have on student achievement.”
