Recently I spoke about Jesus Christ as the judge. There are numerous considerations regarding judges. What is the character of the judge? What authority does he/she have? How much knowledge does she have? How wise is the judge?
Paul, the Apostle “Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day–and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:8
Life is full of judgements. We make decisions based on how we evaluate the situation. For those of us who desire to please God, we have a great responsibility to make good judgements. So a thoughtful investigation into Jesus as the judge should be very helpful as we consider our own judgements and those of others, especially as they impact us.
We want judges of good character like Jesus. We want wise judges like Jesus. We want judges who care about the poor and needy like Jesus. We want to be able to trust our judges like we can trust Jesus. The Apostle Peter said this: “he (Jesus) commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.” Acts 10:42
If a judge is appointed by God, even if a human agent is involved, we are much more likely to be confident in the decisions that are rendered. Likewise if we have God’s approval on our lives, we can be confident of our own decisions. Good decisions always require a standard of evaluation. God in the Bible has given us the best tool to measure our decisions. Use it well and you will be rewarded.
Happy making wise judgements.
