Henri E. Baskins; Executive Director, Greater Columbia Community Relations Council
Henri Baskins is a native of Charleston, South Carolina,
She received her Elementary and secondary education in public and private schools in Charleston. Her Undergraduate Studies were at the College of Charleston and LibertyUniversity and her Graduate Studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
She started work in Charleston as an operator at the telephone company. After being promoted to the technical side of the company, she rose through the ranks in the company’s planning and engineering department; Independent Company Relations group, where she was responsible for intercompany contract negotiations; and regulatory and legislative affairs. In 2011 Henri retired from AT&T as Regional Director, External Affairs.
In 2012 she became the first female executive director of the Greater Columbia Community Relations Council.
She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Navigating from Good to Great Foundation, Columbia Housing Development Corporation, The Cooperative Ministries, the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and Midlands Housing Trust Fund.
She is past chair of several civic, educational and philanthropic organizations including the Palmetto Society of the United Way of the Midlands, Junior Achievement of Central SC, SC 911 Advisory Committee and is the immediate past chair of the South Carolina Independent Colleges and University’s board of directors.
Henri is the recipient several awards including of the “Women Who Lead” award, ColumbiaCollege’s Leadership Institute “Circle of Influence” Award, and the Girl Scouts “Women of Distinction” award.
She has worked with small groups of entrepreneurial women in several developing countries providing Biblical teaching, leadership training, business/strategic planning and personal coaching. She frequently takes teaching/mission trips to countries in Africa, Asia and Central America.
