Give back during United Way of the Midlands’ annual Volunteer Week
Volunteer registration starts March 6
COLUMBIA, S.C. – United Way of the Midlands’ annual Volunteer Week, in partnership with presenting sponsor Wells Fargo, brings community members together to complete a variety of different projects for nonprofits in the Midlands. United Way hopes to fill 360 volunteer spots for 29 different projects that will be held from Monday, April 8 to Saturday, April 13 in honor of National Volunteer Month.
“Volunteer Week is the perfect time for individuals or groups to come together and pay it forward,” said Jordan Pridgen, United Way of the Midlands’ Volunteer Center Manager. “This week gives those who do not regularly volunteer an opportunity to see the amazing things that can happen when we live United. For our local agencies, this week gives them the extra hands they need to complete projects, as well as increase their visibility in the community and connect with new volunteers.”
Volunteer Week provides the community with a way to give back while maintaining their normal schedule as multiple projects are offered each day at various times and places. This year’s projects include sorting clothing items, packing boxes of food, painting and cleaning agency facilities, serving breakfast at local shelters, building a house, delivering meals to seniors, beautifying walking trails and more.
