COLUMBIA (SOUTH CAROLINA) – Neighborhoods in the North Columbia region of Columbia, South Carolina, are preparing to celebrate the Eau Claire Unity Festival on Saturday, September 19, 2015.

In its 16th year of celebration, the annual festival is being re-launched with the “unity” theme this year. The Eau Claire Community Council, which sponsors the festival, is planning a full day of family-friendly events that bring together all the diversity of the area.

The Eau Claire Unity Festival features a car show, Kid Zone, jewelry, and a full program of music including favorite Gospel and Jazz performers. Details on the headliners and further events and vendors will be announced soon. Tantalizing local food and beverages will be served.

Outdoor events will be held in the streets at the intersection of North Main Street and Monticello Road, Columbia, SC, 29203. Indoor spaces for vendors and performances are located at the Eau Claire Print Building (3907 Ensor Avenue) and the Hyatt Park gym (950 Jackson Avenue).

The Eau Claire Community Council works to unite, empower, and lead people who live, work, worship, study and play in North Columbia. Established in 1988, the Council convenes approximately 40 neighborhoods located in northern Columbia and Richland County, South Carolina. Areas served by the Council are known as Eau Claire, Uptown, 29203, the North Main Corridor, and North Columbia.

The Council’s executive director, Henry Hopkins, the president, Christie Savage, the board of directors, and dozens of other volunteers offer decades of dedicated service.

Providing one voice for the many communities in this vast region, the Council promotes equitable public services and development funding. In addition, the Council sponsors many initiatives and programs of its own, including two major annual events: the Eau Claire Unity Festival in the fall and the Community Appreciation Dinner in spring.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Eau Claire Community Council is headquartered in a renovated bungalow in the heart of Eau Claire at 830 Wildwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29203.
