The City of Columbia’s Community Development Department and the Columbia Council of Neighborhoods (CCN) will host an Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at the Columbia Marriot, 1200 Main Street. Congressman James E. Clyburn will be the keynote speaker.

The Annual Awards Banquet will highlight Community Development’s 40 years of service to the Midlands and recognize local neighborhood leaders. Community Development will also unveil its video “40 years– Building Communities and Transforming Lives”.

Since its inception, Community Development has focused on making Columbia a better place to live, work and play. The department has supported the economic development of Columbia by providing façade loans, creating development corporations and outlining five federally targeted areas to provide benefits. Additionally, Community Development has addressed quality of life issues through park development.
