Columbia Observes South Carolina Black Pride Week
June 25th thru June 29th 2014, 9th Annual South Carolina Black Pride is observed around the Midlands and in Columbia.
This year the South Carolina Black Pride, which is South Carolina’s only statewide LGBT Pride organization directed at African Americans, will celebrate its 9th Annual South Carolina Black Pride with the theme of, “Glowing with PRIDE: Embracing all that was, is, and yet to come.” It has programmed a series of fun, educational, and cultural events in the Midlands/Columbia area from Wednesday, June 25to Sunday, June 29, 2014.
Among these events (many of which are free and tailored to families) are its “Framily Fun Night” on June 25th, its welcome reception or “Meet & Greet” event on June 26th, its first annual “The Know Ball” on June 27th, its “Unity Worship Service” on June 29th followed by a “Unity Picnic.”
The high point of the week is its Annual Community Expo, held June 28th, from 11:00am to 4:00 p.m., at the Riverfront Park & Canal, 312 Laurel St. The Expo will feature vendors, entertainment, HIV/AIDS testing, forums, food and other family fun.
