C.A. Johnson High School Holds Victory Parade for State Basketball Champs

You can just feel it. There’s an extra bounce in the steps of C.A.JohnsonHigh School students, staff, alumni and supporters as they relish the school’s first state championship title in boys basketball since 1989.

Their joy and pride overflowed  into the streets of the C.A. Johnson community in a victory parade for the 2014 Class 1A state championship-winning boys basketball team, Head Coach Daryl Jarvis and his assistant coaches recently.

The parade started at W.A.PerryMiddle School (2600 Barhamville Road), went down Barhamville Road and ended in the parking lot of C. A. Johnson’s gym (2219 Barhamville Road).

On March 8, the C.A. Johnson team fought back from an 18-point deficit to win the Class 1A state championship. The Hornets defeated Whale Branch 71-64 in overtime at the Colonial Life Arena.1
