Brookland Baptist Church Dedicates The James B. Adams, Sr., Senior Citizens Center

Dozens of members and friends of Brookland Baptist Church were in attendance to celebrate the dedication of the James B. Adams, Sr., Senior Citizens Center recently. The Center is a wing of the Brookland-Lakeview Empowerment Center. Ethel Jivers has been tasked with building the Senior Citizens program.

The Senior Center will serve as a place to provide a safe, secure and welcome environment in which to spend the day. There will be enjoyable and educational activities for anyone 65 and older to enhance and/or maintain a level of independence.

During Pastor Jackson‘s dedication speech, he stated that the center is a part of ―God‘s Greater.‖

Several individuals and families were recognized for their contributions to the center.

Rev. James B. Adams passed away in 2012 and served as Brookland‘s Minister of Visitation and Grief. He also served as a interim pastor at Zion Baptist Churc Adams was a Columbia native and attended the public schools of Richland County. He continued his studies at Morris College, and further studied at the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Columbia, South Carolina, where he received his Bachelors of Theology Degree.
