BLYTHEWOOD – Blythewood High School junior Jada Hart has been honored as a scholarship recipient to attend the Education First Tours Global Student Leader Summit, Exploring Human Rights, June 25-26. in The Hauge, Netherlands.

“I was not expecting to win because I caught on late to the information about the scholarship, but I was still really glad to try because this was something I wouldn’t want to regret,” Hart said. “It was really close to the deadline but had I not tried, I wouldn’t have the opportunity I do now.”

Nearly 1,300 students from around the globe will attend the summit as students listen to keynote speakers, attend workshops, and collaborate to design solutions to pressing human rights challenges in a global context.

Hart is one of about 15 students to attend on scholarship.

“I’m most excited about meeting people with like minds. I’d like to see what challenges they put forth in terms of what human rights they want to help fix and how they propose to help fix it,” Hart added.

Along with the scholarship to attend the summit, Hart will explore Germany and The Netherlands alongside other scholarship winners.

“I was really excited for Jada when she told me about her scholarship and immediately realized what a big deal this was for her and then when I called our EF tour consultant to share the news, my beliefs were confirmed of how much a huge deal this truly was,” Spanish teacher Meredith Blocker said.

Hart has experience in traveling abroad before. Travelling with Blocker and EF Tours to Portugal, Spain, and France in 2014 along with Lima, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Cuzco, and Amazon Lodge in Peru in 2015.

“I believe her getting to travel previously and see the world has opened her eyes to a lot of things, and this is an even bigger experience,” Blocker added.
