(West Columbia SC) – Continuing with our rotating arts program featuring local artists, Columbia Metropolitan Airport is pleased to announce the installation of two new art exhibits.

Alicia Leeke’s exhibit is on display in the connector of the terminal leading to the departure gates. A native South Carolinian, Alicia began her artistic studies under Steven Nevitt at Columbia College. During her sophomore year she vacationed in Paris and visited the Louvre, where she fell in love with the French Impressionists. More recently, her work has been inspired by photographers Susan Kae Grant of Texas and John E. Powell of Columbia, SC leading her to produce a body of work combining conceptual art, photography, and digital mixed media.

Pam Steele’s and Cynthia Colbert’s 3D exhibit is on display in the main lobby near the USO. This exhibit features a combination of three dimensional compositions to include hand-built ceramic sculptures and vessels; historically based face jugs that feature a whimsical theme; and hand-sewn book arts. Pam and Cynthia are both art educators. Pam retired from the classroom in 2005 and produces her work now at White Oak Studio in Simpsonville, SC. Cynthia is an art educator at the University of South Carolina.
