AAMA Future of Work in Cities Tour coming to Columbia!

Dear One Columbia community,

As past president of the African American Mayors Association (AAMA), I am pleased to announce that the AAMA’s Future of Work in Cities Tour is coming to Columbia on July 31 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Richland Library Main (1431 Assembly St).

In March 2018, AAMA received a generous grant from Google.org to conduct a needs assessment in Columbia, South Carolina; Gary, Indiana and Long Beach, CA. AAMA has worked to complete a comprehensive analysis of the economic and labor data and educational and training opportunities pertaining to the three cities.

The event in Columbia will provide an in-depth overview of how automation will impact the future of work in our city. At the forum, we will also discuss how AAMA’s research recommendations can be utilized as a tool to cultivate workforce development opportunities in Columbia.

The forum will be followed by a light reception.

We welcome all members of the Columbia community to attend including elected officials, nonprofit leaders, educators, business leaders and professionals in workforce and economic development.

For additional information, please contact AAMA at aama@ourmayors.org or via telephone at (202) 670-2018.

Columbia Forum agenda:

Doors open at 4:30 PM
Program starts at 5:00 PM
Reception begins at 6:30 PM

Sincerely,

Steve Benjamin
Mayor
Columbia, South Carolina
