Lexington County Sheriff’s Department employees and citizens donated a total of 83 units of blood on Thursday, January 22 during a blood drive that the Sheriff’s Department conducted in partnership with the South Carolina chapter of the American Red Cross at the Lexington County Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington.

Lexington County Sheriff Lewis McCarty thanked Sheriff’s Department employees and other persons who participated in the blood drive. The Sheriff’s Department regularly conducts blood drives in partnership with the American Red Cross. Since January 8, 1998, a total of 2,327 pints of blood have been donated at blood drives that the Sheriff’s Department conducted in partnership with the American Red Cross.

Evidence Clerk Beth Holliman and Master Deputy Chris Lee coordinated the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the blood drive, McCarty said. The sheriff encourages citizens to continue to give blood to the American Red Cross.

“The American Red Cross is in need of your help,” McCarty said. “Patients are depending on you to roll up your sleeves and make an appointment to give blood.”
