The Beyond the Table grants distributed by Central Carolina Community Foundation
(COLUMBIA, S.C.) — Central Carolina Community Foundation, the Midlands’ local center for philanthropy, has awarded $19,500 to 10 local nonprofit organizations to address top community needs. The grants were awarded through the Beyond the Table mini-grant initiative to inspire action on ideas discussed during On the Table.
“For the past three years, On the Table has brought residents together for meaningful conversations about the issues we face as a community,” says JoAnn Turnquist, president and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. “The Beyond the Table grants make it possible for community members to take action and address those issues head-on.”
Applications were reviewed by a committee composed of community members and were open to nonprofit organizations and individuals with a fiscal sponsorship. The projects all address at least one issue identified as a community priority in the 2019 On the Table survey.

Community Invited to February 11 On the Table Insights &Impact Virtual Event
For the last three years, thousands of community members have voiced their opinions during On the Table conversations and participated in an annual survey that uncovered further insights about community issues. Participants have engaged in meaningful dialogue, formed deep connections and participated in a ripple of action that is making our community stronger. Central Carolina Community Foundation is hosting a virtual YouTube livestream on February 11 at noon to share insights learned during the last three years, including data from the 2020 On the Table Impact Report. Ignited by a national initiative
On the Table, Powered by Central Carolina Community Foundation is part of a national initiative funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. On the Table replicates an annual civic engagement initiative of the same name developed by The Chicago Community Trust in 2014.
