Luther Battiste’s elected Vice President of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA)

Luther Battiste was elected National Vice President of the American Board of Trial Advocates in an historic election on October 4, 2017. He will become President in 2020. He will become the first African-American National Vice President and President.

The American Board of Trial Advocates is an invitation only organization of experienced Plaintiff and Defense trial attorneys nationwide. The organization has approximately 7300 members and the National Vice President is selected by a vote of its membership..

Mr. Battiste has served on the National Board of ABOTA and on the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Chapter of ABOTA since 2005. He also served as President of SEABOTA, a regional organization of ABOTA composed of 10 Southern states.

Dennis Cannon is the President of South Carolina ABOTA. He is the second African-American President of South Carolina ABOTA. Columbia lawyer Ron Stanley was the first. ABOTA is dedicated to preserving the right to jury trial and promoting civility and high standards in the practice of law.”
