BOOKER T. WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL DOCUMENTARY
The Documentary will Feature Reflections, Images and Oral Interviews of the Class of 1943
Columbia SC 63, in collaboration with the Booker T. Washington High School (BTW) Foundation, will premiere a short documentary about the famed high school. The documentary will feature oral interviews with 1943 graduates of the famed high, in addition to personal accounts including reflections, historical images, and newspapers about BTW. The Class of 1943 witnessed World War II and the burgeoning struggle for civil rights and will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of their high school graduation during this year’s Annual Heritage Week-end, June 22-24, 2018.The documentary will premiere on June 22, 2018 at the Heritage Week-end Banquet. Since 2013, Columbia SC 63 leader and USC professor Dr. Bobby Donaldson have worked with the BTW Foundation and a team of students to develop a historical display throughout the last standing building of BTW that showcases the school’s remarkable history. Columbia SC 63 will host tours of the building during the Heritage Week-end.
